Pork Cubes Experiment

Hi there! :)

I haven't updated this blog in a long while but now I'm back! :D First, I'd like to write about what I did tonight. Lately I have been very interested in "cooking". I don't really cook when I do, it's always prito (fried). Though I love watching Giada De Laurentiis, I was never motivated to really cook. My mom is a great cook and she bakes really good cakes and cookies too! Despite that, I have never envisioned myself seriously trying to cook. I'm turning 24 this year and I've been thinking of living separately from my parents and I thought to myself, "I really need to learn how to cook". That didn't motivate me though, until I came across a blog. I thought it was all about fashion, since she's a well-known stylist. Apparently, her blog cover fashion and her life as a busy mom. She also puts up her own recipes and gives a step-by-step direction of how she makes/ cooks a certain food. (BTW she is Jenni Epperson. Follow her blog HERE)

I never thought I'd get hook on her blog and anticipate the next recipe she'd make or cook. That was the time I started to concoct recipes in my mind. I started making easy recipes first- just trying to be safe. I experimented with breaded chicken fillets- I'm heavy on seasoning the food and it tasted really GOOD. My boyfriend always asks me to cook it for him whenever he visits me. He never gets tired of it! Haha.  Next thing I know I'm making pork cubes! :)

I made pork cubes tonight. It's not the same pork cubes recipe I saw on a blog, though. I didn't measure the seasoning because I don't like to do that- that's why baking and I don't really mix well. LOL  I had my mom taste the food after I cooked it. I was scared she was gonna say "it's too salty or too sweet" or "it's bland"! My mom, for me  (and for my boyfriend as well) is the best cook! The food is extra delicious when she cooks- so that makes her a very intimidating judge on how well I made my dish. :) Getting her approval means I've done a great job! Yahoo!

So here's what I had:

1pc pork (porkchop cut) cubed
3 cloves of garlic
2-3 tsp of barbecue marinade
2tsp of sugar
1 and a half tsp of EVOO
garlic powder
salt
black pepper
oregano

I had to marinate the pork so it would be soft and tender. So in a bowl, i mixed all the ingredients and have it sit for about 20 minutes, more or less. After that, I just put it straight into a hot pan. :)

Here's the photo vomit:
McCormick for seasoning
EVOO

hot pan!

Ta-dah! (It's not burnt okay? It's the barbecue marinade)

I loved how it tasted. Of course, you can say I'm biased but whatever! LOL For a beginner, I give myself a two- thumbs up! :)
